NSU Theatre & Dance Presents Cabaret

NSU Theatre & Dance Presents Cabaret

A cabaret singer and an American writer navigate love and life as Nazism rise, revealing the personal cost of political chaos through music. Cabaret is set in 1931 Berlin during the rise of Nazi Germany. It follows American writer Cliff Bradshaw and English Cabaret performer Sally Bowles, set against the backdrop of the decadent Kit Kat Klub.

As the Nazi's gain power, the characters' lives are dramatically transformed, revealing the personal impact of political upheaval through music, sexuality, and mounting social tension.

The musical explores themes of political indifference, personal freedom, and the gradual normalization of fascism, symbolized by the Emcee's provocative performances and the increasingly dark tone of the cabaret numbers. Sally and Cliff's relationship becomes a microcosm of the larger societal changes, ultimately showing how personal lives are inevitably shaped by political realities.
