NPSB Announces Disapproval of Education Savings Accounts (ESAs)

NATCHITOCHES, LOUISIANA – The Natchitoches Parish School Board held a Special Called Meeting on March 28, 2024, to approve a resolution expressing the opposition to state legislation establishing Education Savings Accounts (ESAs).

Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) will provide public dollars directly to parents for private school tuition and educational expenses with little to no state oversight. For the past 20 years, the state has failed to adequately fund K-12 public education and these accounts would directly disadvantage the students in Natchitoches Parish Public Schools, as well as the public-school campuses.

The approved resolution urges the Natchitoches Parish Board Members to vote NO on any bill proposing an Education Savings Account.

The resolution passed with a “yes” vote from every school board member, excluding one member due to absence from the meeting. To see the full resolution, please visit www.npsb.la/resolution.
